Over the years, I’ve heard about how phenomenal of a cook my great grandmother was. She passed away shortly before I was born so I never got to eat any food made by her or enjoy it with the people I love. When I was sent home from college as COVID-19 hit, it was the first time my family really had a lot of time on our hands together in a very long time. My mom pulled out a lot of old photos told stories of the past, a lot of my great grandmother. The next day, my mom called me into the kitchen and taught me how to make her infamous corn pudding recipe. It was a fun experience for the both of us, and I can tell it meant a lot to my mom to pass on something that has been important for generations in my family. Needless to say, it is a delicious dish to prepare for family events and there is a lot of nolstagia and good memories associated with it as well.
